Description This Master Incolor cocktail shaker dates to the Art Deco period, circa 1935. The shaker is formed with a tapered black bakelite body, moulded in urea formaldehyde, rising to a silver plated ribbed shoulder and lid. The lid incorporates a rotating window displaying eight built in cocktail recipes, a defining feature of the Master Incolor design. The upper lid removes to function as a one gill measure and contains three integrated shot cups, clearly a bespoke rare addition. A secondary cap sits over the pouring spout and is removed when serving. The body unscrews at the mid section to allow filling, and retains its original internal strainer positioned within the lower section. The base is stamped Patents Pending 427237, The Master Incolor Cocktail Shaker, Made in England, confirming manufacture in the first half of the twentieth century. Designed by Lawson Clarke for the English firm Wilson and Gill, the Master Incolor cocktail shaker was produced in a range of colours and has since become one of the most recognisable designs of the Art Deco period. A well preserved Art Deco cocktail shaker with black bakelite body and original features throughout. View the full Barware Collection. Bakelite is a thermosetting phenol formaldehyde resin which is formed from a condensation reaction of phenol with formaldehyde. It was the first plastic made from synthetic components. Originally developed by Leo Baekeland in Yonkers, New York, in 1907, and patented on December 7th, 1909. Lawson Clarke the Master Incolor was first patented by Lawson & Raphael Clarke in 1934 on behalf of Wilson & Gill, London and first manufactured in England in 1935 by De La Rue. The ‘Master Incolor’ is a classic of Art Deco streamlined design with several unique features including eight cocktail recipes and the “magical” spout which was designed to ensure no spillage. It was completely unique to the Master Incolor, it was also the first Cocktail Shaker to be designed and moulded in Bakelite. Always make sure the wall has been wiped clean prior to installation.

Temporary installation :
