The court is enclosed, approximately one-third the size of a standard tennis court. The sides are normally a fenced/ caged structure with glass back walls, offering a mix of tennis and squash skills sets. The surface is usually covered with a fine loose granular sand, similar to beach sand, to allow for sliding on court. Scoring is the same as normal tennis, except all serving is done underarm – The height of the ball needs to served at or below waist level. The main differences are that the court has walls and the balls can be played off them in a similar way to a game of squash. Solid foam bats are used and look similar to beach bats; but have their own specific design and materials. The balls used are similar to tennis balls, but with a little less pressure.Padel is different from the sport known in Canada and the USA as Paddle Tennis. The popularity of Padel Ball has seen many Tennis clubs around the world, converting some of their Tennis courts into Padel Ball courts.
